A sentence is a group of words that gives a complete meaning. Every sentence has two main parts: the subject and the predicate. The subject is the person or thing the sentence is about. The predicate tells what the subject is doing or what is said about the subject. For example, in “The dog runs fast,” “The dog” is the subject and “runs fast” is the predicate. Both parts are needed for a complete sentence.
